Description

The aim of this module is to allow students to understand and demonstrate an awareness of the management implications of their research, and to develop their project planning and research skills over the course of the year. Critical skills developed in this course will involve the students locating their technical research in another discipline (management studies), learning new vocabulary and tools, selecting and conducting deep analysis such that robust conclusions and recommendations can be reached, and presenting this in a format that is integrated with their technical research to people outside the project team. This module corresponds closely with the work students are completing in their study or research project (MEC6002). Similar to that module, students will work individually to examine a management context of their industrially focused study or research project. The student will identify, scope, research, analyse and present a business/management problem that relates to their project. Progress will be reviewed through an online diary throughout the academic year. The project is assessed on the basis of the research diary, a poster presentation and interview, and a final reflective report.
